I have FINALLY arrived safely after a very long trip!! Managed to have all three of my flights delayed (one benefit of that though is that there was never much stress about missing the next plane). Once arriving at Incheon Airport, just after 5pm, the time came for me to harness all my (lack of) directional skills and get myself to my hotel near Gangnam.
This was really helped thanks to my dear Briony writing out what really was a fools guide of how to get there... although I managed to screw it up quite profoundly.
Step One: Buy a single ticket on the airport shuttle to Seocho. DON'T go Express as it is a rip off.
My interpretation: Couldn't find normal ticket stations so figured I would save time at the extra cost and take the express. Rookie error. The express takes you straight into Seoul where I then had to buy a second ticket to Seocho, merely going backwards towards to airport again to get back onto Briony's step two.
Step Two: Get off at the University stop and switch over to the green line two (to Seocho).
My interpretation: Managed to leave the terminal all together in search of line two, thus using up the second ticket I bought. Luckily, some kind Korean helped me purchase my third ticket to Seocho, right near line 2. At this wonderful point of frustration, the handle on my hand luggage bag decided that then would be an amazing opportunity to break. So there I was, looking like a hunchback with a limp, awkwardly making my way to the line 2 train (at this point regretting not changing out of my leggings and into jeans, more appropriate snow gear and all...) After all of this, I finally made it to step three.
Step Three: Take a taxi from the Seocho station to the airport (show airport address in Korean).
My Interpretation: Not sure how to hail a cab here. Never thought to ask. So, I wondered around the cold, dark street I was on, managing to jump in a cab as someone got out, thus FINALLY making it to my amazing hotel... at 8.30pm. After arriving at 5pm...
Plus side, I am here safely and tomorrow I get to go exploring in the day time :D
Chat soon my friends! :)
